Suzanne Ambrogio Jaffe

Suzanne is a dedicated community leader, volunteer, wife, mother, doting grandmother/babysitter, and recovery champion.

Now retired and focused on enjoying her four grandchildren, Suzanne spent most of her career, alongside her husband Lee, building and successfully running Penn Furniture, Scranton, which has been in the Jaffe family for over 120 years. From officer manager to interior designer, she wore many hats before turning over the business to her sons.

Suzanne is a proud graduate of the New York City school system, and attended Pratt Institute, where she majored in commercial art and minored in fine art. Before marrying Lee and moving to Scranton, she worked for the New York State Department of Labor, where she helped welfare recipients transition into the workforce.

Outside of work and family, Suzanne dedicates her time and talents to numerous meaningful causes and organizations, including, among others, the Children’s Advocacy Center, the Blind Association, the Scranton JCC, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which presented her its prestigious Wings of Life Award. She previously served as president of the Wyoming Seminary Lower School and Scranton Prep parents associations, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Howard Gardner MI Charter School.

Suzanne is deeply committed and connected to her role on the Recovery Rises Foundation Board. While addiction has significantly impacted her own family, she found herself fortunate to be surrounded by others who had experienced what she was going through and who directed her to a twelve-step recovery program that has been a part of her life for over 20 years. Through her dedication to her own recovery, since its inception the Jaffes have facilitated Scranton’s Families Helping Families program, which aids those seeking help for an addicted loved one.
