Brian J. Williams

Brian is a community organizer, leader, fundraiser, and volunteer, with a proven record of dedication to service. His values and sense of purpose are rooted in his faith and family, and permeate all of his professional, volunteer and charitable contributions. Born and raised in Dunmore, he is the youngest of eleven children.

As programs manager for Friends of the Poor, Scranton, Brian oversaw multiple food pantries across Lackawanna County. He also spent a decade developing youth and family ministries in parishes throughout the Diocese of Scranton. Throughout his career, has volunteered his time and talents with organizations that care for the most vulnerable populations, including, St. Francis Soup Kitchen, Hands Together/Haiti and Habitat for Humanity. Most notably, Brian has volunteered with Friends of the Poor for over 35 years!

He currently serves as chair of the Deutsch Institute, and as a member of the advisory board of the Lackawanna Susquehanna Behavioral Health/Intellectual Disabilities/Early Intervention Programs, both based in Scranton.

Previously, he served as a courtroom deputy for Judge James A. Gibbons.

Brian has witnessed the devastating impact of addiction on individuals and their family members. As a Board member of the Recovery Rises Foundation, he is dedicated to ensuring that such individuals and their families are well cared for as they commit to life in recovery.
